Another Meme and a Xerosis update

Xerosis shall be going yet another week – two weeks? – without an update. And by that, I mean it won't be updated in two days. Whoops?
On the up side, I wrote an entire fic in two weeks. *grin* And now that bunny is out of the way, I should be able to focus on Xerosis again. So....

Do you read or write fanfiction?
Both. I occasionally go through periods when I don't do one or the other – dry writing spells often see me reading overmuch to try and find inspiration, or if I'm particularly caught up in a fic, I won't read anything – but overall, I am both a reader and a writer.

When did you first start reading/writing fanfiction?
Erm... Middle school? Late 90s, early 2000. Something like that.

What was your first fandom?
Digimon Adventure 02, with a side of Digimon Adventure when I couldn't find anything better.

First ship?
Taito/Yamachi. Yagami Taichi and Ishida Yamato. (I started slashing early. XD)

What website do you use most?
FanFiction.Net, alas. I've started to enjoy Archive of Our Own, and I use HP Fandom.net and LiveJournal for posting. But when I'm looking for fic to read, FFN's where I go.

What do you think of Fanfiction.net?
I despise it. No, really, I do. I wish there was a better website for fanfiction, but all the other ones out there seem to focus on one fandom or just don't get the traffic FFN does.

I wish I had the skills to write in the Criminal Minds fandom, but I know better. I've considered writing in the FFXII fandom a couple of times, but usually manage to talk myself out of it.

Do reviews affect how you write in any way?
Sometimes. If I'm posting a fic as I write it, which doesn't happen so often anymore, reviewers can talk me into changing things, but if I've already written the entire fic, there's not a lot they can say to change things.

Do you use a beta?
I do.

What ratings do you read/write?
I prefer the high-rated stuff to read, but I'll go for lesser ratings if the summary sounds good (or I'm just that desperate). Writing-wise, I used to write a lot more M/R and MA/NC-17 stuff, but I tend to lean more towards T/PG-13.

What warnings have you used on your fiction?
I almost always put AU on there, and slash. Otherwise, I often warn for child abuse and non-con. Character death shows up often enough. I'm insanely fond of Dark!Harry and/or Grey!Harry.

Do you have any squicks?
I haven't read something that squicked me in a long time. Well, okay, wait, that's a lie. Baby!Voldemort/Harry is just... No. And one of my friends loved to mock me about it. (Right up until I found this distressing creation and now she respectfully doesn't mention it.) Thankfully, this pairing doesn't seem to exist. (That's not a challenge, fandom.)

Do you Role-play online? If so, what?
I used to, all the time, with my ex. We role-played Yu-Gi-Oh!.
I, erm, don't. Not anymore.

Have you ever stolen something from another person's work?
'Stolen', no. Borrowed on the other hand... XD
I have a policy of asking before I run off with something, and if I honestly have no idea where I got it from – or the owner won't respond – I'll make mention of that.

Favourite fandom to write/read?
I don't know that I really have one. Harry Potter, I suppose. But only because I've written the most for it.

Oh, that one's easy: Voldemort/Harry Potter

Favourite writer/writers?
grazhir, tsuki_no_suzu, winds_of_water, empyrealfantasy, sadademort (if only she hadn't removed everything... T.T) and, recently, emcey squared (FFN) for her FFVIII fic.

How long should a chapter be?
I usually aim for around 5,000 words, or 10 pages. Xerosis is always at least 10,000 words.
Reading-wise: I don't much care. I like longer chapters, but I won't die if the chapter's particularly short.

Do you write/read drabbles?
Yeah. Not often, but I both write and read them from time-to-time. Usually I only read them if I'm already familiar with the author, though.

Any fandoms you avoid?
Twilight. *gag*

Pairings you avoid?
Most het pairings, although I've been known to enjoy a few. As a rule, I don't generally care for canon pairings, although I'll put up with them if they're not the main focus. (However, like all rules, this can be broken: I like Tamora Pierce's canon pairings, for example.)

Warnings you avoid?
Sparkly vampires.
Case-by-case, really.

Do the number of reviews tell how good a story is?
Mmmmm.... Sometimes. On chaptered fics, in heavily populated fandoms, yes. On one-shots and in fandoms that get little attention – crossover fandoms especially – no.

What do you think of Mary Sues?
They're a lot of fun to mock. And not much fun to read about.

Have you ever flamed someone?
Not in my memory.

Have you ever been flamed?
Ahahahah... Oh, yeah. Plenty of times. It's one of the dangers of enjoying an unusual pairing.

Oh? Do share. The reason why I don't like that pairing is cz of Seifer though, there's something about him that just rubs me the wrong way. Maybe I'll actually like him after that fic. O.O

Oh, and Taichi/Yamato = LOVE!
I remember when I was a small kid sitting in front of the TV watching Digimon. And I went, "Taichi and Yamato are meant to be together, damn it!" when I was only 5. I think that's when I first started liking male/male relationships.

Lol. I've only watched Season 1-3 when I was a kid. Season 3 was actually kinda boring and was the last season that was broadcasted on the channel so... I lost interest in the later seasons.
My fav is still Season 1! Taichi and Yamato's relationship was just so complicated and full of potential slashiness~ I was so happy when they reunited after Yamato deserting and shit happening! :D Forgot most what the shit happening was though. >.<

LOL. I watched all of season two, but 3 disappointed the shit out of me and I stopped watching. I eventually downloaded found all five seasons and watched all of 4 and most of 5. Season 5 didn't impress me, but I loved 4. And 6 is pretty damn good, too. (I need to catch up. It might even be over by now, which would be sad, but... Mmmm...)
It really was, though! I've never seen most of the series, but it was totally there, even in the few episodes I saw. A bit in season 2, as well. XD

Yup! Season 1 was really awesome! In both terms of plot and character development! Season 2 didn't have that much of them though cz it was more about the smaller kids who grew up.

I've heard some people that like 5... It used older kids and didn't have anything to do with the Digital World, not really. (I think they eventually ended up there, during the last ten episodes, but that's about when I stopped watching.)
LOL, yeah. 2 was a bit short on character development, but I loved the Ken when he was the villain, and even more when he teamed up with them. I had an itty, bitty crush on him. ^.^"
