A/N: It was pointed out to me, by a native Egyptian, that Ancient Egyptian wouldn't have been spoken during the timeframe that Harry and Sal were in Egypt. Rather, it would have been a mix of Arabic, Greek, and Coptic. So I've gone back over chapter 12 and edited that out, as well as catching similar mistakes in future chapters. Minor changes all around, really. (This is what I get for letting my attention to detail slack when they skipped back to the modern era. :/ )

Owing to the fact that I've got both Dumbledore brothers running about now – and Harry's acting as a member of the family – I'll be using first names for both Albus and Aberforth.

It is a damn good thing I already finished this fic, because the slew of anti-Ramona hatred I got last chapter – most of which I woke up to, you assholes – would have made me throw up my hands and walk away. And I am completely unapologetic about the nasty response some of you got back from me.
Let me make this perfectly clear: I like Ramona. She is my OC and I made her with the intention of keeping her around. She is epic. She is important in so many ways to this fic.

A/N: The Salazar Slytherin in this fic is based off the one from In Éirinn, with some minor changes that you probably won't notice unless you note these things down. (Freaks.) A great deal of those changes, I admit, are because I did more research on the time frame.
This fic is entirely the fault of sunsethill (FFN), who is not the least bit sorry for giving me a bunny, even though I'd intended to turn my attention to one of my WiPs.

The title is Old English, as are many of the spells and whatever Salazar says before he spells Harry to understand. Some tenses might be a little off and there might be better words than what I used, but since this is a very much dead language, I'm not too bothered with it being perfect. If you happen to be a scholar and want to correct stuff, I'll happily pick your brain, though I might request a reason as to why you think one word is better than another.
I'm pretty sure that the only other non-HP canon language that I use is Welsh, and only for a spell, which aren't really required to be correct. At least, not in HP canon. So XP
As always, all translations will be at the end of the chapter.

Related: I am not an historian, nor will I ever make any claims as such. On that theme, I ask you forgive anything odd about the timeframe the first half of this fic takes place in, as I tried to be realistic, but I didn't feel like spending months reading up on the early/mid-700s for the sake of accuracy.

As a note, for any nit-pickers, this fic was started at around the same time as Pottermore's opening, and I honestly stopped keeping up with that site after the first book. It's too dull for me, and the nuggets of information weren't tantalising enough to make me suffer the boredom. Moreover, the Lexicon said they wouldn't be updating with that info, and that's the site I've always used when I needed to check on something. SO. This fic is largely (save one or two things regarding the layout of Hufflepuff House) Pottermore-free and the lot of you can piss the fuck off.

This fic was, save for the last couple chapters, beta'd by the lovely Shara Lunison. The first half was also beta'd by the wonderful Nimohtar.

This fic starts during the graveyard scene in Goblet of Fire and, as such, a part of that book is quoted at the beginning of this chapter before it all spirals off into AU. It's the chunk in italics, if you want to skip it.
