I've been posting on
noagirl a bit of late -
tsuki_no_suzu got me doing this anime meme - and I happened to see these two on my f-list. Considered posting them on
noagirl, then figured you lot would probably be more interested than my RL friends on there, soooo....
Stole both of these from
eaivalefay.
List the first lines of your last twenty stories. See if you find any patterns.
These are not in any sort of order, what so ever. Just sort of as I opened them.

I sure like to start writing while talking about my MCs. ^.^"
What's the last thing you wrote?
Complete chapter-wise, Xerosis. Last thing I worked on period... Mmmm... Been going back and forth between そして今日も世界は and Angels Chained, neither of which have a finished chapter.
Was it any good?
Xerosis: Meh. Sort of filler-ish. And Albus in the chapter I'm working on now has a death wish. そして今日も世界は: Not so much, but I haven't really got anywhere with it. Angels Chained: There was wrench-throwing, which is always awesome.
What's the first thing you ever wrote that you still have?
Holy... Erm, Senshi Miko. It was an original piece loosely based off of Fushigi Yuugi. It's hand-written. I don't even know why I've kept it. Also, The Children's Study Cottage, which I drew this epic map for. Most of CSC is still handwritten in a notebook, but the map and a re-written prologue are on my computer.
Write poetry?
Used to.
Angsty poetry?
Merlin, yes.
Most fun character you ever wrote?
It's a toss-up between insane!Harry and insane!Luna from Xerosis.
Most annoying character you ever wrote?
Albus Fucking Dumbledore.
Best plot you ever wrote?
Mmmmm... Not sure. I like more of the plots I've written, over all. Don't really have a favourite.
Coolest plot twist you ever wrote?
GOING TO THE MOON.
How often do you get writer's block?
Usually, right at the end of a story, or when I work myself into a hole. Too often for my own liking.
How do you fix it?
Write something else for a while or read lots of other fanfic and hope it goes away.
Do you type or write by hand?
I prefer typing, but I'll write out scenes by hand if I'm away from my computer. Also, I prefer to keep my notes handwritten.
Do you save everything you write?
For the most part. It drives
tsuki_no_suzu completely mad, though, since most of my early writing in in notebooks.
Do you ever go back to an old idea long after you abandoned it?
I'll take an over-all plot and re-write it, like I'm doing with Abandon, and I always say I'll go back to an old fic, but after a long enough period of time...
...Damnit.
What's your favourite thing that you've written?
I am Ridiculously fond of The Children's Study Cottage, for all that I think it's a piece of shit now. I tend to be really fond of what I'm working on at that moment, so... Xerosis, right now.
What's everyone else's favourite thing that you've written?
Seems to be a toss-up between Xerosis, The Creators and Abandon/Reclaim.
Do you ever show people your work?
Yup.
Who's your favourite constructive critic?
I'm madly fond of my betas, but I like everyone, really.
Did you ever write a novel?
Does Abandon/Reclaim count? 'Cause, seriously? That was over 300,000 words, together.
Have you ever written fantasy, sci-fi, or horror?
Fantasy, hell yes. Sci-fi, not so much. Horror, erm... No.
Ever written romance or teen angsty drama?
Teen angsty drama, OMG YES. Romance, I try romantic scenes, but I'm not sure that counts?
What's one genre you have never written, and probably never will?
Horror. Also, mystery, because I'm just no good at it.
How many writing projects are you working on right now?
Holy.... Actively having done work on in the past month? Erm, 6? All fanfiction. Ones I've sort of taken notes about or considered working on: 5-ish. One of them original, the other fanfic.
Do you want to write for a living?
I would love to write for a living.
Have you ever written something for a magazine or newspaper?
Erm, I got a couple poems published in my high school's creative magazine/calendar.
Have you ever won an award for your writing?
I got a scholarship for it, does that count?
Ever written something in script or play format?
Once. I, erm, lost it... *shifty eyes*
What is your favourite word?
'Erm', apparently.
I'm unusually fond of the word 'zyxt', possibly because it's no longer in use.
Do you ever write based on yourself?
Sure. Did it way more often when I was younger, but a little bit of our lives always end up in the things we write.
Where do you get ideas for your characters?
Well, I write fanfiction, so...
Original characters I usually write based around an over-all plot. They pop into my head, sometimes, fully formed, and I write the plot around them, though. Most often, I'll get an idea – an ability or a personality – and I'll write the rest of the character around that.
Do you ever write based on your dreams?
Once or twice, sure.
Do you prefer happy endings, sad endings, or cliff-hangers?
I'm quite fond of writing cliff-hangers, but I think we all prefer happy endings. When I'm in the right mood, though, I'll gladly take a sad ending, just for the opportunity to sit there and bawl my eyes out.
Have you ever written anything based on an artwork you've seen?
Not yet.
Are you concerned with spelling and grammar as you write?
YES. It's half the reason I fail so bad at NaNo all the time, 'cause I can't just leave mistakes behind me.
Ever write something entirely in chatspeak?
NO. And I never intend to. I don't read stuff in chatspeak, either. (I avoid chat rooms like the plague. Things like LOL and RL I've got used to out of necessity, but for the most part, I really can't stand it.)
Does music help you write?
Sometimes. I like writing to music, and sometimes it's too quiet for me to write effectively, so I'll turn on my music, but it's not usually necessary.
Are people surprised and confused when they find out you write well?
Don't think so? I don't spread it around IRL, though, either, since most of my RL friends don't enjoy my fandoms, and those that do find out I'm a writer, well... If they're surprised, they don't say anything about it. XD

Date: 10/9/11 04:07 (UTC)The first line for Magician Arcana can be taken in so many ways~ XD But I don't think I've read it? O.O
Lol, Albus. Good luck with him! You could do a oneshot dedicated to killing him in the most painful ways imaginable to jumpstart him into behaving~ Just a thought~ XD
I do so love insane!Harry, insane!Luna and Teh!Moon! And your awesome writing! :D
Anyway, this was enlightening. And educating. Cz I never even knew there was a "zyxt" word. Don't really look at dictionaries much. *shifty eyes*

Date: 10/9/11 04:23 (UTC)LOL. No. It's a Persona 3/Harry Potter crossover I've been working on for a year-ish now. There's a summary for it on my fic-list post.
OMG. I clearly should. It might make me feel better.
LOL. Yeah, it's the last word in the Oxford English Dictionary and I wouldn't know about it either, except I was cataloguing a book during my internship that mentioned it and went to go look it up. One day, I will use it, if only for my own amusement. XD

Date: 10/9/11 05:49 (UTC)Oh, Persona? Never played any of it and don't know anything about it. Not enough time to do all the things I want to. *sighs*
Lol, do. Torturing characters are just so much fun! XD
Ohh, I see. I'll look out for it then. Might use it in my English essays if only to annoy and perplex the hell out of my teacher~

Still cracks me up and simultaneously blows me away from the brilliance. Wizards on the moon. C'mon, it does not get better.
But also, I just love your writing. I always have and you just get better and better. ^_^
no subject
Date: 14/9/11 14:32 (UTC)It more definitely doesn't get better, no. I am amused that no one has seemed to have thought of it before. (Too much time spent writing Doctor Who, I suppose...)
Awwww..... ♥♥♥

Date: 16/9/11 13:09 (UTC)and I STILL have to think about it, but my shortening of words and lack of punctuation fails hardcore. (u r kddng rht, 0r smth) XPPPP I suppose I'll suffer and not torment your eyes. *sigh*Okay, wtf is "YKINMKBYKIOK?"
I'm actually a tad surprised no one has thought of it before. We've had years to even steal it off Doctor Who, and yet... But that's the genius of brilliant ideas; how stunningly obvious they are once we're made aware of them. I really want to steal it, but, well. Stealing is wrong? LOL
♥!

OMG. HTML coding makes my tired brain spin. SPIN. *more ded*
I know! You'd think someone would have gone, 'Wait! Let's go to the mooooooooon!' Or something. It's not like, you know, we don't see the damn thing regularly. (Or maybe that's it? I dunno. I used to make jokes about holidaying on the moon when I was really tired, which is probably where I got it from. Mmmm.... Sleep...)
Stealing is very wrong. Borrowing with permission is acceptable. *nod, nod*
no subject
Date: 17/9/11 07:27 (UTC)Alright, YKINMKBYKIOK is pretty damn brilliant. *bounce* I'm filing that one away.
It's probably because we do see it every day. It's just the moon. It's made of cheese. What else is there to know? XD
OMG WAIT. Did you just give me permission to pilfer your moon brilliance? Say whaaaat? o.o
