Bats' Winter Holiday Ficlets Ideas Poll

Some of you might remember how, last year, I made a joke about how I wish I could put short little ficlets into winter holiday cards for people, since I can’t do little personalised arts, but I didn’t have time to figure out what to write. (Whoops.) So I had a thought, the other night, about this would probably be a good time to ask for opinions on ships and fandoms and such, so...

I’m not going to put a cap on how many ships/fandoms I willing to write ficlets for, but I will say that there needs to be a certain amount of interest before I’ll agree to write that ship, because I don’t really want to stress over banging out a short fic about a ship that only one person is interested in.

So, you can pick up to 2 options (including whatever you want to add in the other category; yes, I can tell if you’re clicking two boxes and then adding two more for other, and I’ll delete your vote if you do that, don’t be a dick). You’ll only get one in your card, but I know some people are really going to want an unpopular ship, so I’m giving you the opportunity to pick a first and a second choice, so you’re more likely to get something you’ll enjoy. (You are not picking what you’re getting in your card right now, just what I’ll be writing; the card form will go up in November.)

Ship-wise, I do have this lovely little list of ships I’m comfortable writing for on my writing tumblr, but if you’re really desperate for a ship in one of those fandoms, and it’s not on the list – or you just want a gen fic for a particular group of people – go ahead and ask. (Please don’t ask about fandoms not on that list, though; chances are good I’m not familiar with it.)

These ficlets will have a holiday theme – I’ll aim for either non-specific, or specific to the religious leanings of those characters, as much as I can – and won’t be related to any of my current fics, so you can enjoy them without having read a specific fic.

I think that’s everything important? I’ll be closing the poll whenever I remember to in August, and I’ll be reblogging it a few times on my personal tumblr, and probably on this LJ.

:D :D :D I also have had a plan to put print-only fics in my New Year's cards!! I didn't finish in time last year, but I WILL this year! Since I am not as talented nor as prolific as The Bats mine will only have a choice of RoyxEd or Gen, though. :P

Ah~ Someone I follow in MCU does little fics to put in with their cards every year, and they're so nice, and I've thought about them for a couple years, but I always actually sit down to do them way too late (especially, since, yeah, prolific. Or just generally insane and multi-fandom, and people following me to new fandoms and occasionally asking me for more fic for whatever old fandom ^^; ). So, you know, this year, it occurred to me in a reasonable time frame, so. :D
Gonna do it this year. Already have four ships hit the minimum limit I decided on (with, yes, EdRoy/RoyEd/whatever being one of them XD). We'll see how many times I remember to reblog it over the next couple months. ^^;

BUT YES. Do it toooooo~! All the holiday cards fic! :D (We gotta show up those artists that make their own bleedin' cards somehow. XD)

Wow, nice!! I would love to be able to get more people on this bandwagon, I think it is so neat and so fun. I am keeping those fics on the radar, but 1. short-ficcer :P and 2. I have RoyXEd week and the Fandom Challenge on the radar first, so have to focus there first. (That and I SWEAR I am will beat at least half of Nano this year, damn it!! lol Fanny fail)

And yes! Artists' cards! They are so amazing. I recently bought a photo-album thing to keep the fandom cards I've gotten over the years. Such treasures! <3

Man, it would be crazy-fun to make authors sending short little ficlets in their holiday cards a thing. I mean, I don't think it will happen, honestly, because it's not an easy thing to do, but it would be cool.
Ahahahah... I feel you. I still need to finish my round one Fandom Challenge piece. *falls over* And then, yeah, RoyEd Week, and also Hyuroi Week and the FMA Rarepair week aren't that much after, and I wanna do at least one piece for Hyuroi, and a couple rarepair pieces and then these little short and...
Ugh. I don't wanna think about NaNo right now. *dies* Maybe I'll sign up for it to work on the second fic in the OSR series. Assuming I'm not in desperate need for a holiday by then. ^^;

Ah! An album's an idea. I just generally save all the cards I get, put them back in their envelopes and stick them in a tote. (And then postcards get hung up, because I like having a wall of places people have gone travelling. XD) But it would be night to pull out all the fanart cards and have a way to display them, rather than keeping them cooped up.
(....shit. I need to figure out where/how I'll be displaying card this year. ^^; )

It definitely is a lot of work, especially for someone like you, with a lot of people who might ask for one. I'm small-run, I'll probably only have ten or so.

But, hey, you never know! Maybe after everyone sees us do it this year we'll start a trend :D

I do love HughesXRoy, too (though they always end up being eventual-RoyXEd plotlines, lol). I will keep it on the radar and see if I can't whip up a little ficlet.

Heh. We'll see how it goes. (Totally gonna cross my fingers for more people offering fics next year, though.)

^^; Well, Maes does get married and then die, and unless you want to muck about with cheating/open relationships/what have you, it's easier to have the RoyMaes be past. And then, hey, RoyEd, is obviously the next choice. XD

Eh, I totally get life, don't worry about it. ♥♥
I let myself get eaten by Pokémon GO, so, you know, my feet hurt, but I've been having fun, so there's that. (Maybe it'll help me get past the spot where I'm stuck for my fandom challenge fic. ^^; One can hope?)
