Date: 27/11/12 22:15 (UTC)I hadn't felt like looking it back up at the time, but for you: Work It
ALSO! Got your card. And the little Loki! *squees and dies of the cute* ♥♥♥♥♥♥
I don't have a tree, but I did stick him to the wall behind my computer. So I look up and he's hanging there, looking disgruntled. I break out into random giggles fairly often, and Dad keeps asking what's so funny. XD

Date: 28/11/12 12:55 (UTC)*rotfpmp* That picture!
So, I laughed out loud when I read this, which made my husband ask, "What?"
"Batsutousai has naked Loki pictures on her desktop, which are melting her father's eyeballs." Which carried in it's wake the sobering thought that hobtheknife and I are old enough to be your parents. Yikes.
And then Hob responded in a manner which made me realize:
A) That the same thought had crossed his mind just then, too
and
B) He'd probably have been a pretty cool dad, because he's totally okay with the stuff we fangirls get up to. Surf porn all you want, just don't go anywhere online that will bring Homeland Security knocking at the door. He is, after all, one of only two guys I know who ships Harry/Voldemort.
"She needs to read that book Zelazny wrote about Loki," he said. "You know, the one where he takes over the world. It would be good for her writing."
Anyway, you can expect to receive a book in the mail called 'The Mask of Loki'. Don't panic, although it's out of print, it wasn't difficult to find or expensive. Zelazny is one of our fave writers, but this is a collaboration and, when you get to Zelazny's prose, you can definitely tell the difference between his skill with words and the other guy's. However, the ideas are friggin' awesome so, yes, good book. Hope it triggers your Muse, darling.
By the way, little Loki works as a bookmark, too.
*hugs*

AND BOOK! *excitement* I have been having a TERRIBLE time finding books on Norse mythology around here – which is weird, since this is a largely liberal area, but maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places – so even though I feel kind of bad because you're sending me things that cost money and I'm not sending anything back, I am also ridiculously grateful. So I'm going to say THANK YOU and shut up.
And once I have money, send you something super nice because you're awesome and I adore you and you send me shiny things. When I first pulled the Loki out, my first thought was that he was a bookmark, and then I saw the slit to hang him somewhere. And I'll probably end up using him as a bookmark, once I move into a flat with my sister in April and am no longer living in my father's guest room, but it's nice to have a bit of grumpy mischief god to break up the horrid pink of these walls. ^.^"
(I'm probably going to keep all my Christmas cards up until I move out, too. Colours. Not. Pink.)
Also, on the topic of mostly naked Loki pics...
My absolute favourite FrostIron artist posted this little gem today, and I kinda couldn't not share: The Lace

Date: 29/11/12 14:45 (UTC)Speaking of pink...when I was growing up, my room started out painted the faintest blush of lavender and, as time went on, progressed steadily into medium orchid. Soon as anyone thought to consult me, I painted it burgundy. Next, periwinkle blue. Now, the walls are sort of linen, so I can change the colour scheme with accessories which, right now, are mostly sage, with autumn leaves on the coverlet.
The Lace! Oh, I love the expression, too! Spent quite a while with her FrostIron stuff, I can tell ya.
So, books. As far as Norse-themed novels go, Poul Anderson's The Broken Sword is awesome. It's a dark and magical tale set during the wars between the Light and Dark Alfs, concerning two boys who are changelings. As they grow up, one of them discovers that he's half troll. Funny, but he's a bit pissed off that no one bothered to tell him...and I suspect that you can see a familiar story arc here, can't you?

Date: 30/11/12 03:27 (UTC)Apparently my father's wife's cousin – who's a guy – stayed in this room for a few years and when she told him he could repaint if he didn't want all the pink, he decided he was too lazy. If he'd been less lazy, this room might have been blue, or something. *sigh*
Her stuff is brilliant. And, from her tumblr, she travels a lot, so she's always working on stuff while en route in a little black notebook. XD
Ooh, yeah. *flail* I should see if the library near Mum's can order that book for me from somewhere. Since I doubt they have it. (They don't have anything, the sods. ^.^")

Jest sayin'.
And, oh, jeebus, yeah. Clark Gregg and that bloody hat. (You probably missed it – I don't think I reblogged it anywhere, though I should have, because it was GOLD – but someone said they were going to buy the Agent Coulson figure and put it in a dress, and Clark said blue goes best with his eyes and it had to be backless. He's kind of super awesome.)
LOL. Hush. No one says you can't snoop through links I hand out in other people's comments. Here, have another one: The Lace
Different artist, fucking brilliant. XD
