I am, quite possibly, the most terrible authoress ever. I’d like to apologise and love all 17 tumblrs and 50(-ish) twitters who came on board, likely expecting fic updates and such, but got Tom Hiddleston spam. (And, yes, some of you appreciate this, but I’m sure some of you are like, “DAMMIT, BATS!” I’m sorry… *grovels*)
So, by way of apology, I shall post fic. And it’s up to you people what I’ll post.
I’ve fallen in the habit (you can blame Shivani/Grazhir for this) of writing and writing and not posting until I feel a fic is done. I didn’t do it with Xerosis, but I’ve done it with the line of FFVIII fics I did, and I liked being able to keep a schedule. (I’m getting disturbingly orderly as I age. Horror of horrors.) Anyway, while I like this schedule-keeping, it does mean I’m not posting at all as much. On the other hand, I’ve got a bloody shi-ton of WiPs sitting on my computer that I’m off-and-on working on and no one’s pestering me about them. (Except the betas, but they don’t count. XD)
The following have at least two chapters:
- Abandoned: The Re-Write — Harry Potter fandom
A complete re-write of Abandon: Before the start of his seventh year, Harry Potter is abandoned in London by his muggle family and finds himself befriending Lord Voldemort. (Harry/Voldemort, others) - Forgotten Prince — Harry Potter fandom
The gods made a mistake and Lord Voldemort was born. When the gods try and fix their mistake, things don’t go quite as planned. (Harry/Voldemort) - Gelosaþ in Écnesse — Harry Potter fandom
Caught in the backlash of Voldemort’s Killing Curse, Harry is thrown through time to a world so very different from his own. (Salazar/Harry) - Jar of Hearts —BBC’s Merlin fandom
Destiny says Morgana and Merlin will dodge each other’s steps for rest of their lives, but no one – not even the Great Dragon and all his future knowledge – could have foreseen how thin the line is between doom and love. (Morgana/Merlin, one-sided Merlin/Arthur) - 神時間 ~ Kami Jikan — Persona 4 fandom
Namatame’s death weighs heavy on Souji, as does the fog that envelops the town and people he’s so come to love. It just so happens that there’re a couple gods who don’t like leaving things undone laying in the back of Souji’s mind. A New Game + take. (MC/Yosuke, others) - Like So Much Shattered Glass — Marvel Universe fandom
Loki thought to break the Avengers, one man at a time, before killing them. His plans had never involved being broken in return. (Loki/Tony Stark) - Magician Arcana — Persona 3/Harry Potter crossover
When Apathy Syndrome starts picking up speed in a muggle town in Japan, the Japanese magical government finally calls for help from outside their own borders. Of those who come to their aide, only one can experience the Dark Hour. (Harry/Ginny, MC/everyone)
So, here’s the deal: Pick one of these fics and tweet me/put an ask in my tumblr box/leave a message on LiveJournal to let me know. I’ll round up votes sometime Monday night/Tuesday morning and post the first chapter of whichever fic has the most votes. (It’ll be on tumblr and LiveJournal, with links on twitter to both postings. It will NOT show up on FFN/AO3/HPF. This is just for you awesome people.)
24 hours to vote. Go. XD

Date: 16/7/12 03:22 (UTC)Oh well, I'm going to anyway! :P
1. Forgotten Prince
2. Gelosath in Ecnesse (sorry I totally butchered that title)
And you're not the worst authoress ever!
That's me. I haven't even been writing lately, much less posting.Oh, and I love your icon! ♥

Date: 16/7/12 03:28 (UTC)(Nope, no butchering. It's right. Technically.)
It's an awesome icon. And I never much use it. Especially since I'm never using this account. ^.^"

Date: 16/7/12 03:43 (UTC)I haven't learned how to put different letters/symbols/accents into comments yet (or entries, now that I think of it...). Ah, I'm so slow with learning new websites. ^^"

Date: 16/7/12 03:48 (UTC)There're keyboard shortcuts for each symbol. I can't say for Macs, but for a Windows computer there's a program called Character Map which has all the characters/symbols in it. You can copy&paste from there, or in the bottom right corner is the keyboard shortcut for the symbol you've got selected. (It's more complicated with a laptop, which is where I always got hung up.)

Date: 16/7/12 16:29 (UTC)I've only just gotten used to the html tags, so I use them a lot in comments now that I know how to, but...sigh, I guess I'll figure it all out someday (Merlin knows I'll be on LJ and the internet in general for a long time to come).

Date: 16/7/12 16:33 (UTC)Ah. I guess there's not a way to do rich text for comments, is there? Huh. (I admit, I had a couple fan sites in my youth, so I've been using HTML for...oh, a little over a decade now, I should think. It makes posting on sites like HPF and AO3 easier, since while they have ways to upload fanfiction without coding, it's simpler to do the coding. Or, well, I think it is. What do I know?)

Date: 16/7/12 16:52 (UTC)Your icon *_* ♥
I've really gotten interested in html lately. I would love to design my own website, because it looks like so much fun and I feel so accomplished when I make just the smallest code work the way I want it to! :D
I want to learn Japanese, too! (and Korean, because I love their music) Damn, where did my summer go!? I was supposed to start learning all of these things! D:
Lol, sorry, mini rant there.

Date: 16/7/12 17:13 (UTC)It's a lot of fun, but HTML has become a lot more complicated, especially since it's mostly switching over to CSS coding, with the easy stuff in HTML. I occasionally update myself on things, but I mostly stick to the HTML. Not sure I could work a real website, anymore. *sadness*
LOL. This. I am well acquainted with this sensation.

Date: 16/7/12 18:21 (UTC)Aw, I was afraid of that. I have a very helpful book on HTML, but it's kind of old and I was worried that it was outdated. CSS...I've heard of it, I've seen it all over the place, but I always just thought it was another form of saying HTML or something. Damn, now I have to go look it up! Mmm and it sucks because each site seems to have a different form of coding. For example, LJ uses for italics, but AO3 uses . GAH. Y U NO MAKE THIS EASIER ON ME???
Lol

Date: 16/7/12 18:45 (UTC)LOL. CSS is sort of the more complicated, younger brother of HTML. It does everything HTML does, plus a couple of other things, and its supposed to last long after they phase HTML out. I still use HTML for most things, like italics, underlining, font size, colour, etc. For the most part, you can get away with using HTML, but if you wanted to build a website, you'd need to tackle CSS.
As for the different sites...For the most part, <i>...</i> will work for italics, say, everywhere, even if the site's FAQs say to use something more complicated, it will recognise the basic form. I know AO3 gets a little weird if one of your tags is a capital letter and the other is lower case, but LJ and HPF don't, and a lot of sites don't accept changing the font colour or family. You just have to play around with it a bit.

Date: 16/7/12 04:31 (UTC)Well, if it doesn't win, it's the one I'm focussing on the most, for the moment, and if I keep going at this speed – and Loki will stop angsting like a pre-teen over his being Jötun – it might well be finished within the month.

Date: 16/7/12 04:40 (UTC)Loki is such a lovely whiner. I can wait a month. If I MUST. (jk, I have no entitlement issues. Promise!)

Date: 16/7/12 04:44 (UTC)It helps that he's beautiful. (Or maybe that's just Tom. ^.^")
Patience. Virtue. (I'm not sure discussion of virtues and Loki is a sane combination... O.o)

Date: 16/7/12 16:29 (UTC)Well, it was almost more a side pairing than anything else. The fic follows the canon of the Crapilogue, so it needed to exist. It's vaguely important for, like, two chapters. Maybe.no subject

It's me who asked you on tumbl about your fav pairing. I was so happy to learn that i was not the only one to not find the Harry/draco so great because it's always the same thing (and do you know that i did look at the number, and when you go to FFN, you'll see that the Harry/draco come before the Harry/hermione, Harry/ginny) and i really wonder if you can write something original with so much fanfic on this pairing written.
no subject
Date: 16/7/12 17:46 (UTC)It's hard to write something new for any pairing, though, once it's popular enough. Goodness knows I'm forever struggling to write Harry/Voldie and not have it seem like ever other fic out there.
But, yeah, not all that surprised at the numbers, really. The fandom is full of slashers, more so than people interested in the same het that you can find in canon.

Date: 16/7/12 20:08 (UTC)Just a questioN who doesn't have anything to do with Draco : do you think that like in a lot of story, a lot of slytherin are abused ? I'm always surprised by that because in slytherin, there is a lot of pureblood and pureblood are one child so when you have one child, you try to not abused them. And when you look at gryfondor, you see two person abused : Harry adn Neville ( because what his family did for knowing if he had magic is barbaric). And i really think that not all the abused children are the same. Because puting them in slytherin means that all abused children are sly and ambitious. If you are abused, you can forget your life in books, or wanting to be accepted or be couragous.
Do you think that the sytherin are the only one house to see the abuse in other person? Each time hat i ask people they say that slytherin are the house wh will see the abuse. I'm not so sure about that : the other house can see it too.
no subject
Date: 16/7/12 20:13 (UTC)Or, well, that's my thoughts.
no subject
Date: 16/7/12 20:29 (UTC)But i'm happy to see that i'm not the only one to think that (one day, i will write a fic where all the quidich captains of all the house will see that somthing is wrong with harry and protect him or a story with Harry in Hufflepuff).
no subject
Date: 16/7/12 20:38 (UTC)There is a need to be willing to look outside your own problems to enable one to spot abuse victims, yes, but a number of people who have, themselves, been abused – especially if they've been abused from a young age and believe themselves to be worthless – will see it in others, though whether they understand what they're seeing to be abuse is a different matter entirely.
no subject
Date: 16/7/12 20:52 (UTC)I'm always surprised by Ron and Hermione about the abuse. Does they know how the Dursley are with Harry ? I think that Ron has a little idea but why didn't he or the twin say nothing to their parents? Or worst they say but their parents think that Ron and the twin doesn't understand what they see.
